Membership Dues
It is that time of year to renew your annual dues. If you have not already done so, please take a moment to go to our website, www.woodmeremontgomery.com, print off a membership application, and send it in with your check! You can also give it to your block captain or zone coordinator. If you know one of your neighbors is not a member, encourage them to join.
Security Tips
Here are some tips on how to celebrate safely this holiday season:
-
Get an automated timer for your lights.
-
Ask a neighbor to watch your home and park in the driveway from time to time.
-
Do not forget to have mail and newspaper delivery stopped if you will be traveling.
-
Turn on lights and a radio or TV so it looks like someone is home.
-
Be extra cautious about locking doors and windows when you leave, even if it is just for a few minutes.
-
Do not display gifts where they can be seen from outside.
-
Have floodlights or motion-sensitive lighting on for the evening regardless of whether someone is home or not.
Streets & Sidewalks Committee
Streets & Sidewalks Chair Libby Howard has been hard at work the past few months. Thanks to her and her committee’s efforts, we now have a barrier between Woody Lane and the Beauvoir Subdivision. Individuals were parking at the dead end of Woody Lane and walking into Beauvoir. With the addition of the barrier, these activities should cease.
As many of you have noticed, part of Woodmere Loop has been repaved. We hope to have more streets repaved in the near future.
Parks Committee
The Bradford Pear trees that are planted through Woodmere Park have been slowly decreasing in number. Whenever we have strong winds, they will split and have to be cut down. Parks Chair Jimmy Gunn has spoken to Councilman Charles Jinright and Jinright has appropriated $1000 towards having trees planted in Woodmere Park.
Mark Your Calendars
The next quarterly meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. It will be held at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts. We hope to see you there.
Thank You!
Thank you for being a member of the Woodmere Neighborhood Association. Without your support, the things that we do would not be possible. Please feel free to forward the WNA eNews to your neighbors!
