At approximately 10:45am on July 14, 2008 Matthew Morrow’s home at 1321 Tudor Drive had its front door kicked in. Since he has moved in to this neighborhood in 2005 he has had $12,000 worth of lawn equipment stolen and never recovered from his back yard, gas tanks, a bicycle, firewood, and even his fresh laid pine straw was raked out of his beds and taken.
If you don’t have a security system you need to get one. It looks like whoever kicked in his front door was scared off by the siren that went off. If you know or have seen anything please don’t hesitate to call him 334-850-1208 or email him at matthewmorrow@bellsouth.net
It is America’s Night Out against crime! The 25th Annual National Night Out is a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch. It has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 5, 2008. On this night, you are encouraged to turn on your front porch light and make a point to get to know your neighbors if you have don’t already know them.
The quarterly neighborhood meeting will be held on Thursday, August 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts. The guest speaker will be Locke D. Bowden, Montgomery City Engineer. He will speak on the topic of “Cameras, Red Lights and Future Montgomery Traffic Patterns.” We encourage you to attend and invite a neighbor!
On Saturday, May 31, the residents of Queen Elizabeth Court and Salisbury Place held a block party. Residents enjoyed grilling hamburgers and hot dogs. The block party gave the residents the opportunity to renew friendships and meet new neighbors.
We need a new chair for our Crime Prevention committee. If you have an interest in chairing the Crime Prevention Committee, contact one of the officers or email info@woodmeremontgomery.com.
We still have some streets that need block captains. To find out what streets still need block captains, go to this link: http://www.woodmeremontgomery.com/block.captains.html. If you have an interest in becoming a block captain or know someone who does, let us know.
If you have not renewed your membership to the Woodmere Neighborhood Association, please go to our website, print out a form and renew your membership in the association. Encourage your neighbors who are not members to join as well.
